Planner- Students will fill out their planner daily.  I sign the planner and expect parents to do the same.  This way I know you have seen what is for homework that night.
Each student has a daily journal (DJ).  This is a notebook in which each student writes something we did that day.  This is a way to open communication between student and parent.  This is also another opportunity for you and I to communicate.  I ask that you sign DJ EVERY night and your student returns to school with DJ the next day.  If you need to contact me, you may write a note in DJ because I check them every morning.  Also, you may see notes from me in DJ so please be sure you ask your 4th grader for DJ EVERY night.
Optional Homework-
These projects are made to be fun and engaging.  If students choose not to take on a project they are REQUIRED to practice reading and math facts. If they choose the project they are exempt from the logs.  The time read and time practiced doesn’t have to be the same every night, as long as it is a TOTAL of at least  180mins of reading each week and a TOTAL of at least 30mins of fact practice each week.  Math facts are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and can be practiced anyway you wish. Please be sure to sign both the math facts AND the reading side.  The Log is due every Friday and a new one is handed out every Friday.
Mandatory Homework- There is one book report assigned each trimester that is required.  We make these fun and engaging in hopes that they are educational and not a chore.

I welcome your feedback any time
